A Message from The Ford Family

In March 2016, as Robert Bruce Ford faced his final weeks in a long battle against a rare abdominal cancer, his family and friends created this site. The idea was simple: give the thousands of Torontonians and supporters around the world a place to leave a few kind words. A digital get-well card, signed by a city.

The response was overwhelming. Within days, hundreds of messages arrived from every corner of Toronto and far beyond. Teachers, firefighters, construction workers, hockey coaches, grandmothers, and the children Rob had helped through his community work all wrote in.

“You helped my son when no one else would return our calls. Get well, Coach. We are with you.”

Rob passed away on March 22, 2016, surrounded by family. We have kept every message exactly as it was written. They remain here, preserved in full, as a testimony to what Rob meant to ordinary people.
